Taylor Robinson is an emerging Canadian painter...

...who primarily works in gouache, but has also dabbled in digital art, water-soluble oil, acrylic, charcoal, and photography.

Taylor paints the contemporary world around her. Her choice of subject matter is an invitation to the viewer to contemplate the fragility and beauty of the mundane. Her paintings explore the principle of selection; considerations include determining a balance between simplified forms and carefully observed details. Avoiding true realism, a degree of abstraction suggests the subject of focus and the haziness of memory, while acknowledging the artifice of the medium.

Vancouver Island, British Columbia is where Taylor lives, works, and plays. She was born and raised in the Comox Valley, within the unceded traditional territory of the K’ómoks Nation. She first began painting while studying at North Island College School of Fine Art & Design before completing her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at the University of Victoria in 2022. She currently resides in Esquimalt, the traditional territory of the lək̓ʷəŋən People at the southern tip of the island.
